July 2008 - July newsletter

Dear Teacher,

With the Summer Holidays under way, many of you will be thinking of far away holiday destinations - the sound of Argentina influences the first new addition to the Downloadable Worksheets page of
www.tuneintoenglish.com - thank you to Maria Persico from Portici for submitting Objection (Tango) by Shakira. Also from Argentina, gracias to Mercedes Rayan, from La Rioja, for submitting U2’s Where The Streets Have No Name

The current edition of Speak Up, on newsstands now, features the final edition of The Song in its current format.  This month we look at No One by Alicia Keys - you can read about this month’s issue by following the link on the home page of the Tune Into English website.

Don’t forget that all of the songs mentioned in this worksheet are on the Karaoke section of the website along with almost 1,300 songs - so you and your students can continue to practice their English over the Summer!

Like most of you Tune Into English is now on its Summer break, and will return in September, but for those of you going to the LEND Conference in Portonovo at the end of August, Fergal Kavanagh will be presenting the talk Using Music To Enhance Language Learning - you can read further details about this by following the Teacher Training link on the Teachers’ Area of the site.

Finally, for those of you with some time over the Summer break, Fergal Kavanagh was recently interviewed on Radio C103, Cork, Ireland, discussing six of his favourite songs - you can hear the full interview by clicking on the link on the Students’ Area (scroll down to Online radio stations)

Best wishes, and have a great Summer break!

Fergal Kavanagh
