Jesus Christ Superstar-Heaven On Their Minds (Self Study)

  • Note: This song is from the 1970 musical Jesus Christ Superstar by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. It highlights the political and interpersonal struggles between Judas Iscariot and Jesus during the last week of Jesus’ life. In this musical monologue Judas is concerned about Jesus’ rising popularity as a “king” and its negative repercussions. Judas still loves Jesus but he believes he is a man, not God and worries that Jesus’ followers will be seen as a threat to the Roman Empire, which will punish both Jesus and his followers. (based on Wikipedia). The 1973 film version of the song is sung by Carl Anderson.
